About Call Break

Call Break (कल ब्रेक) is the trick-taking card game that fills Nepali homes during Dashain and Tihar, usually played by four friends with one deck. It is close to the American game Spades: spades always win, and the skill is in calling exactly how many tricks your hand can take.

Here you play against three computer players with their own styles: Pasang plans carefully, Kiran plays boldly, and Maya stays balanced. There is no money involved; scores are just for fun.

How a round works

Deal. All 52 cards are dealt, 13 to each player. Spades are always trump.
Call. Starting left of the dealer, everyone calls how many tricks (1–13) they will win. Calls stay hidden until all four are in.
Play. The player left of the dealer leads any card. Everyone else must follow the led suit if they can. If you can't, you may trump with a spade or throw any other card; you don't have to trump.
Win the trick. The highest spade wins; if no spade was played, the highest card of the led suit wins. The winner leads the next trick.
Score. Make your call and you score it, plus 0.1 for each extra trick (call 3, win 4: +3.1). Miss it and you lose your call (call 4, win 3: −4).
Win the match. After the last round the highest total wins. Equal top totals are a tie. The dealer moves one seat clockwise each round.

House rules (Settings): Must win if you can makes you beat the trick whenever a legal card would win it, as many Call Break apps do. Must trump when out of suit makes you play a spade when you can't follow suit. The standard rules force neither.
