About Langur Burja

Langur Burja (also spelled Langur Purja, and called Jhandi Munda, Jhanda Burja or Khor Khore) is the six-dice game that comes out when families and neighbours gather for Dashain and Tihar. Players back symbols on a mat, the dice are shaken under a bucket, and everyone counts what lands face up. This version is for fun at the table: it handles the shaking and counting, with no coins or betting.

How a round works

  1. Players around the table pick the symbols they back on the mat.
  2. The host presses Roll: a hand shakes the upturned bucket on its board with the six dice inside.
  3. When everyone is ready, press Pick up bucket to reveal the dice. Each die has all six symbols and every face is equally likely.
  4. Count how many dice show each symbol — the result panel does this for you. Settle among yourselves using your own house rules.
